At times, you may find that our dealership-recommended service differs slightly from the manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedule. This is due to differences between the manufacturer’s assumptions and the actual driving conditions of your vehicle. There are several factors that can contribute to the need for additional services during your vehicle lifecycle.
Heavy driving conditions
This one speaks for itself: if you are driving your vehicle more often than the manufacturer assumed, you will need to service your vehicle more often. Frequently driving in stop-and-go traffic or towing trailers can also cause more stress on your engine, in which case we recommend more frequent oil changes than usual.
Temperature or weather extremes
Manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules assume a relatively mild climate with average weather conditions. Temperature and climate conditions that tend to one extreme or another can cause certain components to wear out faster, especially your car’s battery, cooling system, and tires. Hot temperatures and bright sunlight can also damage your car’s paint and upholstery—consider investing in a sunshade to keep your vehicle looking better longer.
Air particulates
Pollen, sand, and other particulates in the air can quickly clog your vehicle’s air filter, causing it to wear out before the manufacturer’s recommended interval. A clogged air filter can diminish your fuel efficiency and engine life, so it’s important to replace this part when needed.
